Goldfoot Genealogy

Here's another Goldfoot family in Philadelphia on the 2 June 1900 census.

Sam Goldfus, undertaker, b: Jan 1862 in Russia, was 38, immigrated in 1887.
Esther was also 38, born March 1862 in Russia. She immigrated later with the children in 1891. She couldn't read but her husband could. Esther had had 9 children but only these 6 were now living in 1900.
Freda was 16 and already a tailoress. She was born in March 1884. These children earned money.
Abe was 14 and an errand boy. He was born in December 1886.
Sarah was 12 and born in December 1888.
Goldie was 7, born in Pennsylvania in November 1892.
Louis was 4 and born in Pennsylvania in May 1896.
Bennie was 1 and also born in Pennsylvania in May of 1899.

A Samuel Shmuel Yoseif Goldfus died in 1909 in Philadelphia and was found by Mike Posnick, genealogist. This Samuel was found to come from Papile, Lithuania. I can't find him in my collection of Goldfus/foots, either. This is him.

from Mike: He was the first member of his family group in the United States. He was an undertaker in Philadelphia. His wife, Esther, migrated later with their children. Until recently we didn't know from what town in Lithuania he came or how he got to the United States (he migrated via Canada). He is the great-grandfather of Mark Goldfus and Arlene Goldfus Lutz of New Jersey.
Good going, Mike. This is great. My Nathan Goldfoot grandfather also migrated via Canada. I don't know just where but I was told that they didn't keep track of people coming through the ports there.
